In my experience, both single-cell and spatial genomics have their own advantages, depending on the aspect of disease research you're focusing on. Single-cell genomics is great for understanding the function of individual cells. It gives you a detailed picture of cellular diversity and gene expression. However, it does lose the context of where these cells are located within the tissue. On the other hand, spatial genomics maintains the tissue architecture, which is essential when the disease process is influenced by cellular neighborhoods. If you're studying a condition where cell location matters, like cancer, this can be incredibly important. Often, using both methods together can provide the most comprehensive insights.
