I've heard that natural sunscreens are safer and more effective. Is that true?

From what I've researched, both natural and chemical sunscreens have their pros and cons. Natural sunscreens, usually mineral-based like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, are great because they sit on the skin’s surface and reflect UV rays. They’re often considered safer for sensitive skin because they don't get absorbed into the bloodstream like some chemical ones do. However, they can leave a white cast and might not blend as well. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, absorb UV rays and usually apply more smoothly without any residue. They can be easier to apply and reapply, which is super important for protection. The best sunscreen is one you'll use regularly and correctly, so I’d choose based on your skin type and personal preferences.

I've tried both types, and honestly, I don't think natural sunscreens are necessarily better in terms of protection. I have sensitive skin, so I initially switched to mineral ones thinking they’d be gentler. They worked fine, but I had to make sure I reapplied often because they seemed to wear off faster, especially when swimming. Chemical sunscreens did give me a rash once, but there are so many different formulations now that I found one that works well for me without irritation. I think it’s about trial and error to see which type suits your skin best.
